LOVE = REACH Day 8

One of my favorite worship songs right now is, “Good, Good Father” by Chris Tomlin.

“You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

Oh, and I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a word”

In our generation it is common for people to struggle with seeing God as a loving Father. Divorce, family dysfunction, abuse, and abandonment have clouded perception and many see Christ through the pain of past experiences with an ungodly father or stepfather.

Many of us know the Scriptures and the theology behind God’s great love for His children. Yet very few of us have learned to appropriate that love and we are not enjoying the benefits of having it.

Listen to how God described Himself to Moses:

“The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin . . .” (Exodus 34:6-7).

We face trials and difficult times and we forget how God describes His own nature. Yet, if we would only believe Him in such times, there would be a peace in our hearts. Throughout Scripture we see God revealing His goodness to us.

“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalm 86:5).

He is patient and full of mercy toward us: “Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord” (Psalm 119:156). “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy” (Psalm 145:8).

This weekend we honor our earthly Fathers, and that can be difficult for many who lost their father or for those who had bad relationships with their dad. However, let this be a day where you see that God is LOVE. He is your Heavenly Father. He believes in you, wants the best for you, is patient with you, forgives you, and He designed you with purpose. Let the fullness of who He is, invade your life. Don’t allow a weak comparison taint your view of who He is and how He feels for you!

Allow His LOVE. The perfect LOVE to invade you and reach you. So that you may reach others! Without a revelation of who He is we can never explain Him to others who desperately need Him.
