LOVE = REACH Day 34

In the infancy stages of building a new church we are asking so many questions of ourselves.

What is the importance of the church?

Why do people get involved in a church?

What is our goal?

People don’t respond to what we do…they respond to why.

  • They don’t care about our lights, stage design, music, or how cool we are

People buy into why we do what we do.

The goal is not for us to reach everyone in the world

  • John 6:65-67 – even Jesus here wasn’t trying to reach everyone. He wanted to distinguish who was with Him. Find those who believed what He believed.

Yes, Everyone needs the Gospel – but we at Lake Hills or Individually are not called to reach them all

We aren’t trying to be famous. We are driven by a cause : a purpose. The mission to EXPAND HEAVEN:

There was a man named Samuel Langley. Samuel was hired by the US Government to build a flying machine. (This was before the Wright Bro). He was given $50,000 to do this – which was an enormous amount during this time. Samuel hired the best minds, the NY Times followed him everywhere. Everyone was cheering him on. 300 miles there were 2 guys with no money. They took the proceeds they made from their bike shop to build a flying machine. They had no education, no connections. The difference between them and Samuel Langley was they were driven by a cause. They believed they could change the world if they could get man to fly. Samuel wanted wealth and fame. Wright Brothers wanted to reach their dream. On December 17, 1903 no one was even there when it happened. It took 3 days for the word to spread – that the Wright Bros had taken flight. When Samuel Langley heard the news he quit. He knew he wouldn’t be famous so he gave up.

Why do we do what we do?

  • God created man to care for the earth.
  • Man sinned
  • God knew He would have to come take back what had been stolen.
  • When we come to Christ we are redeemed
  • Jesus came and got our purpose back.

Matthew 16 – what Adam & Eve lost to sin – Jesus purchased back through the cross. There was a continued way that man could get back. Salvation and building the church! For this reason we serve together to lead people to Jesus and to build the church.

Why We do what we do:

  1. The Church
    1. The answer to bring God to the world is through the church.
    2. When you demonstrate disregard for the church – it puts us on different teams.
    3. This thing is not about us, me, I – it is about the church.
  2. Jesus:
  • He was 100% human and 100% God
  • He wasn’t kind of human – sort of human
  • He was 100% human
  • Tempted in every manner as we are.
  • He went to the cross, died for our sins, resurrected from the dead.
  • He still had wounds in his hands and on his body
    • Why didn’t every mark/wound just heal?
      • Because that is the part of things that we struggle with the most. Everyone wants to talk & believe the part of Jesus that was raised from the dead & kicked the devils butt.
      • The divine side of Jesus is in Heaven
      • The human side is still here
        • We are his hands/feet

The Reality About Jesus and the Church:

  • Thomas was able to see the “real” side of Jesus.
  • The human side of the church should draw you closer (it’s 100% human)
  • Touching the flesh side should build our faith
  • The church is the hope of the world.
  • In its messes and scars – it should make you see the divinity of Christ.

The Redemption Plan:

  • With all the baggage and junk the church is the greatest organism on earth
  • The church is God’s redemption plan for man.
  • II Corinthians 11:23-28 – Paul talks about all the things he faced – shipwrecked, being weary, accused, tired – but in v. 28 he says his greatest concern is for the church.
  • Our greatest concern should be to build the church!

We cannot talk about REACHING and LOVING without talking about the church. Individually of course we can do good things, but together in the church we can do great things. When we join forces and unite together we can make a mark on our communities. We are 100% human, full of flaws and messes. We will make mistakes and disappoint. However, we will reflect HIM greatly. We will love deeply. We will work tirelessly to change our city, region, and world! We will unite and overcome together. The church! It is God’s design to share His Love and to REACH a hurting world!

REACH:

This week we encourage you to invite someone to join you to Lake Hills Church Interest Meeting on Thursday, July 21st at 7p. Together we can do more, we can love more, we can reach more!
